Meet Heather

Hey there! I’m Heather Saffer. Welcome! Let me catch you up to speed. 




My
childhood was spent eating Oreos and drinking milk for dessert before bed. My teenage years were spent running around town. And in 2009, just six credits shy from earning a degree in psychology (which I eventually completed, you’re welcome, Dad!), I found myself working at a car dealership, not knowing what to do with my life.

Around the corner from my work was a little bakery that sold the most fabulous cookies—cookies that were topped with the most dreadful artificial frosting. Always the girl fighting for the corner piece of cake, I just knew that frosting wasn’t being done its due justice in the world. And that’s when my mission to reinvent frosting (and life) began.

I taught myself how to bake and opened a build-your-own cupcake bar in my hometown of Rochester, NY—the very first one of it’s kind. Dollop Gourmet Cupcake Creations became an award winning interactive bakery – a place where frosting and cupcakes were not just a sweet treat, but a creative experience (how fun!).
In 2012, my cupcakes, frosting, and I were chosen to compete on to Food Network’s hit TV show, Cupcake Wars. We won. Big. And business boomed at Dollop Gourmet Cupcake Creations. 

But one day I realized that my true passion wasn’t for the cupcake itself, but for the decadent topping that cupcakes were designed to deliver. So I sold my stores to focus on my true love, my favorite food—frosting.

Soon I was offered a cookbook deal with Adams Media and wrote, The Dollop Book of Frosting to empower dessert-eaters everywhere to make their own incredible frostings. And these days I work to end the injustice of artificial frosting and create the very best product that at-home bakers/snackers/humans with tastebuds can buy. 

My mission is to create mindful products, inspire unique experiences, and be living proof that you can turn nothing into something. My goal is for sweet-toothed friends everywhere to be able to proudly add a Dollop Gourmet to anything and everything because it’s the first (and best) all-natural, non-GMO, dairy-free, mostly organic frosting on the market. And there ain’t no shame in that! 

I dislike small talk, driving over bridges, and being ignored. I love black coffee, nutritional eating, the movie Serendipity, and my rescue mutt Donald. I am lactose intolerant and gluten intolerant, but my love for sugar remains intact. I have a voracious appetite for growth and an affinity for alliteration. I’d rather work than play, I’m all or nothing, and nonstop on the go. Sometimes I’m tame, sometimes I’m controversial, but I’m always 100% real. 

I’m not your average baker. In fact, I’m not a baker at all. I am a dessert wizard, a master of re-invention—and I make damn good frosting.
