Top 3 Frosting Must-Haves For Back-To-School

August 15, 2013

It’s almost that time of year again when the leaves start turning and the children start hopping buses to return to school. Either you’re sad to see them go or you’re looking forward to the reprieve. If it’s the latter don’t worry, I’ll keep your secret. Before you start getting too verklempt over the change of season I think we should talk about packing lunches. When I was a kid my mom sent me to school each day with a brown paper bag stuffed with a sandwich, a piece of fruit, a snack pack of Gushers, and either a package of Little Debbie Swiss Rolls or Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies or Little Debbie Fudge Rounds or Little Debbie Nutty Bars. My mom’s name is Debbie. If your name is NOT Debbie then you probably won’t get away with fooling your children into thinking that you’re Little Debbie and that you made their Swiss Rolls with your own bare hands. But with these three awesome must-haves I’m about to show you, you can send your little ones to school with a homemade fresh from the oven snack so easily that the preservative-filled plastic wrapped abuse will become a thing of the past. Top 3 Frosting Must-Haves For Back To School Single Cupcake Holder. This Fox Run Cupcake-To-Go, Pink perfectly holds one regular (yet undersized) cupcake. How special will your child feel opening her lunchbox to find a homemade cupcake lovingly made and packed by her caring mom? Better yet, you’ll know that her 'something sweet' is freshly made and preservative-free. Now that’s something to celebrate. Apple & Dip Container. This Hutzler Snack Attack Apple and Dip to-Go Lunch Box, Red container is just so fun that your child will want to eat whatever you sneak inside of it. Be as fun as this red plastic apple by sneaking some freshly whipped peanut butter frosting (pg. 36 in The Dollop Book of Frosting: Sweet and Savory Icings, Spreads, Meringues, and Ganaches for Dessert and Beyond) into the accompanying dip container for your kids to dip their apple slices into and you’ll surely be inundated with huge hugs as they run home after school. Kid’s Cupcake Decorating Kit. Prepare for the first day of school by helping your kids make their own back-to-school cupcakes with this Curious Chef 16-Piece Cupcake and Decorating Kit. Made specially for little hands, the whole family can get in on the cupcake making action the day before school. Package the final products in the single cupcake holder and your wee ones can show their friends their own handmade masterpieces at lunchtime. Culinary school, here they come!
