Frozen Frosting Spoons - Recipe!
July 30, 2013
So you’ve just finished frosting two dozen lemonade cupcakes with a fluffy batch of Vanilla Buttercream from the
The Dollop Book of Frosting: Sweet and Savory Icings, Spreads, Meringues, and Ganaches for Dessert and Beyond when you look in the mixing bowl and realize that you still have about a cup of frosting remaining.
Don’t even think of tossing that perfectly delectable yellow frosting out.
That would be frosting abuse.
And I would call the frosting police on you.
Instead, you’re going to put together some frozen frosting spoons!
It super easy. I’ll tell you how to do it and you’ll be hugging me on the next 90 degree day when your sweet tooth comes a calling.
First, lay out plastic spoons on a plastic wrap covered cookie sheet—as many as you think you may need.
Second, take your piping bag or ziplock bag with the tip cut off and fill it with your leftover frosting.
Third, pipe a dollop of frosting on each spoon and place the cookie sheet in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
Lastly, remove the frozen stiff frosting spoons from the freezer and place them in a ziplock bag and back in the freezer until the mood for a sweet cold treat strikes!
Which will be in about 5 minutes—who are we fooling?
Now that couldn't get easier, right?
I didn’t think so.
Enjoy!
What frosting would you most enjoy frozen?
