Be Creative This Holiday Season
December 03, 2013
Day #60 of
The 90-Day Do Something Big Project
I hate Pinterest.
I have a Pinterest account (
follow me!!) and I pin my own things but I just can’t get into the rest of it. I’m clearly not optimizing Pinterest the way I should for business purposes. I say I’m going to work on changing that but I’m probably not.
Each time I attempt to surf Pinterest I feel my creativity draining.
I just tried it again. My brain died a little.
Pinterest—a creativity-leeching conundrum.
What I want to know is what is the ratio of people adding unique content to the people re-pinning said content? Or stealing? I’m sure people steal ideas and then add them as their own.
Let’s get back to being creative this season. What do you say?
Seek out inspiration through living to create something original of your own instead of replicating a Pinterest craft?
It will feel amazing. I swear.
Now this may sound a bit hypocritical because
I wrote a cookbook of recipes for people to follow. But part of what I encourage people to do with my recipes is to make them their own (but credit me, of course :)).
Mix and match frostings with FDV’s, swap out flavors, use almonds instead of cashews or white chocolate instead of dark chocolate. Get creative, have fun, and experiment!
I like to think that with my recipes I’m giving you guidelines and showing you what works, but most importantly, I’m hoping that what I do opens your mind to how things can be done differently. How frosting is not just meant for cake. How spinach can be a dessert. How to think outside of the proverbial box.
Like on today’s
Holiday Blog Tour stop on the infamous
Messy Baker Blog. I’m showing you how to put together a Frosting Decorating Kit for the holiday gift-giving season. Use my guidelines to tailor your flavors to the palates of your family and friends.
And if you missed yesterday’s Holiday Blog Tour stop on how to make icing-dipped cinnamon sticks, you can
check it out here.
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing with you photos from my adventure in NYC yesterday. Stay tuned!
